Bitmap Extractor – Windows Utility to Extract BMP Files
Review by on
Some applications’ names shed no light on what the application can do, like the Mozilla-developed web browser Firefox. The name, cool-sounding as it may be, does not offer any indication about what the application does. We know Firefox is a properly good, fast and user friendly browser, but that’s because it is so popular. You couldn’t tell what the application does by simply looking at the name.

Other applications’ names on the other hand immediately tell you what said application can do. The Zexer Research-developed application Bitmap Extractor definitely falls in this category. By simply taking a look at the application’s name, we can immediately tell that this utility will extract bitmap (.bmp) files.

What you can’t tell from the application’s name is that Bitmap Extractor will extract .bmp files from executables, libraries, resource files, and so on – that part had to be spelled out. Here’s something else that has to be spelled out: the application comes with a fairly straightforward interface that should prove to be quite easy to use. In case you run into any problems, there’s a handy Help file that can answer your questions.

Before you go get Bitmap Extractor and put it to the test, make sure you take a look at the details presented below:
Download – the download weighs in at 487KB, which is incredibly lightweight. Even if you have to contend with a terrible internet connection, it will only take a moment for the download to complete. It’s less than 1MB, so it can’t take long.
Supported OS – at the time of writing this and according to the developer, Bitmap Extractor provides support for the following Windows versions: Windows 95, 98, NT, 2000, and Windows XP.
Limitations – Bitmap Extractor is not freeware, so you cannot use it free of charge for as long as you want. The application is free to try, which means you can use it free of charge, but only for a trial period of 30 days. Once that trial period is over, you will have to get a license to keep using the application.

Pros
  • Easy to use
  • Extract .bmp images from executables, libraries and resource files
  • Lightweight download

Cons
  • Free to try
